Website Design: Cedar Door Austin

It had been a few years since we completed the first Cedar Door website redesign in 2007, and after a major interior and exterior building renovation last year, the time was right for a new site design to reflect the downtown Austin restaurant and bar’s new local, fresh & natural approach to dining. A primary focus of the new design was an added emphasis on their private party spaces, and we made it even easier for users to quickly learn more about how effortless it is to host a unique event there. The project also included a pair of custom jQuery (non-Flash based) image rotators, a new sidebar area to feature daily and weekly specials, and code updates to the website’s submittable forms to increase security and reduce spam email.

Website Design: Cedar Door Original Mexican Martini Mix

When one of our long-established clients decided to create a new website to market their Original Mexican Martini Mix, of course we were excited (anyone who has enjoyed one of these delicious cocktails knows why!) While the Cedar Door has traditionally had a page of their website dedicated to their Mexican Martini Mix, the goal here was to create an online space purely devoted to this particular product.

One main objective of this project was to increase the Cedar Door’s organic search presence in Mexican Martini-related queries; now both websites take up quite a bit of valuable real estate space on search results pages for numerous high traffic keywords. Visually, the website incorporates the look and feel of the product label and creates a cohesive relationship between the physical product and the digital presentation, and everything is programmed with tight, clean XHTML/CSS code. Custom WordPress Theme: Motorboat Movies

Alyson Design worked with Motorboat’s Cameron Burr to create a portfolio website just as quirky as his wide variety of video, documentary and hand-drawn animation projects. Updating the content himself was a priority, so we integrated this design into the WordPress content management system, our hands-down favorite to work with. The project also included an emphasis on organic search, as the rest of the world should witness Cameron’s humorous, professional, and sometimes bizarre take on his subjects.

Custom WordPress Theme: The Muskin Company

Quite often less is more, and this web design for The Muskin Company puts that theory into practice by placing this long established Austin home builder’s work front and center. This project gave the company a clean, easy to navigate space to feature their amazing custom home and remodeling work, all of which is easily updatable using the WordPress content management system. Along with the site, we created a fresh logo design, matching yard signage, and integrated our SEO Starter Kit to help push the company’s organic search presence to a much higher level.

Petticoat Fair has been meeting the intimate apparel needs of area women for over 45 years, and we were excited to help this landmark Austin retailer update their web presence. This project included a complete site redesign with a new foundation of xhtml/CSS code, a fresh visual identity, user-friendly non-Flash product galleries, and an emphasis on organic SEO to help potential customers find them online more easily.

Custom WordPress Theme: Austin Centric Realty

Always excited about pushing WordPress code to achieve results way beyond a typical blog, Alyson Design partnered with Austin Centric Realty to create a fully custom real estate website theme. Principal Ross Cole is not new to the Austin real estate market, but his company is, and he wanted to create a fresh website that would set him apart from the typical Realtor crowd. With an ever changing inventory of properties for sale and for rent, the ability to efficiently update listings was a main priority, and the WordPress content management system allows just that.

This custom WordPress theme features extensive information for potential home buyers and sellers, integrated MLS search features, exclusive for sale and for lease listings, news and blog sections, and informative sections for each of the central and east Austin neighborhoods they specialize in.

You can’t miss Austin Centric Realty’s bright blue signs while driving around town these days – check out the identity branding we created for them here!

We helped the Westminster team realize their vision by translating their cohesive brand into a dynamic xhtml/CSS driven website. Website features include secure online job application and information request forms, an online calendar showcasing upcoming events, and elegant and easy to use PDF page turning displays. Retirement living has never looked better.

Custom WordPress Theme: GUGU by Retrocuffs

Alyson Design helped Retrocuffs make the leap into the world of eCommerce by creating a fully custom WordPress theme with built-in catalog and shopping cart functions. The client needed a site that was easy to navigate and would showcase her unique combination of eco-friendly leather cuffs and antique buttons, and would also give her the ability to quickly update her inventory at home or at a show. We also wanted to keep costs at a modest level compared to many eCommerce websites we’ve built by using the Instinct WordPress plugin; we believe the resulting website met all of those goals without sacrificing quality.

Included in this project was a branding package with logo design and merchandising materials, and our Organic SEO Starter Kit was applied to give the site a big push in natural online search. Go GUGU, go WordPress!

Alyson Design created a new website design for Blue Rocket Books, an Austin-based company specializing in eco-friendly online buying, selling, and rental of all kinds of books and textbooks. The site was programmed by Michael Berding of Berding Consulting, and contains some really clean, proprietary code specifically created for use in the online book industry.
