Search Engine – Best example: Google. A website that catalogs the Internet by categorizing and ranking other websites using automated programs called “spiders,” “robots” and other information gathering technology. Search engines analyze the content, code, and “popularity” of a website, then group it with similar websites and assign a Page Rank.
SEO – Search Engine Optimization. This is the process intended to increase the number of visitors to your website by achieving higher web search results when a search engine (such as Google or Yahoo!) is used. Essentially, the higher your website ranks in the results of a search for specific words or phrases, the greater the chance that your site will be visited by a user. We offer an SEO Starter Kit to enable various search engines to find and rank your website higher, whether you’re launching something new or refining your existing website.
Screen Printing Screen printing is the printing process of forcing ink, by pressing with a squeegee, through a mesh netting and onto the object to be printed. The areas of the screen where ink flow is not desired are protected by blocking the negative space with various types of screen filler. Although the actual printing process can be automated, all of our projects are completed by hand. We focus on limited-edition pressings of 30 to 80 posters, typically 13″ x 20″ in size, with up to four colors printed onto acid-free fine art paper.
Shopping cart – Software that allows customers on an e-commerce website to select items they wish to purchase and store them in a virtual shopping cart. Customers can view, add or delete items in their shopping cart before making their electronic purchase. Sometimes called “shopping basket” or “shopping bag.”
URL (Uniform Resource Locator) – The standard address of any resource on the Internet that is part of the World Wide Web (WWW). One uses a URL by entering it into a Web Browser. Typically: www.yourdomain.com
Web Browser – A computer application that opens and displays web pages. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari are common web browsers.
Web Host – A company that stores and hosts websites and delivers those sites for viewing on the Internet. There are many web hosting companies to choose from, and we’ll help you set up and configure your email and web hosting to suit your needs. Our website is hosted by Lunar Pages, and we’ve found them to be quite reasonable and reliable.
