Website Design: Cedar Door Austin

It had been a few years since we completed the first Cedar Door website redesign in 2007, and after a major interior and exterior building renovation last year, the time was right for a new site design to reflect the downtown Austin restaurant and bar’s new local, fresh & natural approach to dining. A primary focus of the new design was an added emphasis on their private party spaces, and we made it even easier for users to quickly learn more about how effortless it is to host a unique event there. The project also included a pair of custom jQuery (non-Flash based) image rotators, a new sidebar area to feature daily and weekly specials, and code updates to the website’s submittable forms to increase security and reduce spam email.

Custom WordPress Theme: Austin Eats Food Tours

There’s no better way to explore the abundance of amazing Austin eateries than to take one of the Austin Eats food tours! We worked with owners Andy and Lindsey to create a fully-custom WordPress website that captured the playful, eclectic, and casual vibe that can be experienced on one of their 3-hour walking restaurant tours. This project included a custom jQuery image rotator, an easily editable sidebar area to allow quick additions to their tour lineup, and visual integration of their 3rd party reservation management system.

Custom WordPress Theme: Inventive Eco-Organic

Inventive Eco-Organic is a central Texas business specializing in handcrafted, all natural skincare products. Established in 1994, they have enjoyed a great deal of regional exposure through traditional retail outlets, but we were brought on board to assist in expanding their web presence to include an online store. This website is fully custom, designed and programmed from the ground up utilizing the Instinct WordPress eCommerce plugin to handle all of the store’s functionality requirements. Also included in the project is a jQuery (non-Flash based) image rotator, a pair of integrated submittable forms and an archive of downloadable skincare product information.

Custom WordPress Theme: Bellini’s Texas Grill

Based on a one-of-a-kind concept of Texas & Tuscan cuisine, extensive breakfast, lunch & dinner menus, and a deep commitment to animal rescue, the Bellini’s Texas Grill website captured the owners’ unique visual goals for this Cedar Park restaurant. This fully custom WordPress website is loaded with features, including a custom daily specials rotator, integrated upcoming events calendar, and a pair of submittable contact forms. The project also included interior and exterior signage design, logo design, menu designs, and business cards all created to match the look and feel of the website. Awesome illustrations of restaurant mascots Bellini and Fellini were created by Adrian Bogart of Punch Designs.

Custom WordPress Theme: Wilhelmina Development

Wilhelmina Development is an acting and modeling career school located here in Austin, Texas, and they are part of a family of hundreds of firms around the globe with ties to Wilhelmina Models, the renowned agency founded in 1967. This fully custom WordPress website was developed to give staff members the ability to edit nearly every aspect of the site through the administrative dashboard, including a jQuery image rotator, upcoming events calendar, and current staff and alumni informational pages. The website also includes a news section, where dated posts can be archived and organized by categories including newsletters, press and recent bookings.

Custom WordPress Theme: Jodi Callaway Cole

Alyson Design worked with Jodi Callaway Cole, an Austin criminal defense attorney, to create a custom WordPress theme and identity design to help establish her new law practice. Finding a balance between the expected conventions of a typical law firm website and a more creative visual approach was a main priority for this project, and the final result combines both aspects by conveying a clean, professional presence.

eCommerce Website Design: Coco and Duckie

Alyson Design worked with Houston-area brick and mortar boutique Coco and Duckie to create an online store using X-Cart that reflects the unique personality of their Texas retail store. Custom WordPress Theme: West Cypress Hills

MileStone Community Builders contacted us when it came time to create a website for West Cypress Hills, their newest lifestyle community in the Austin Texas metro area. Having already established an online presence for their prior townhouse and villa communities, a main priority for this project was to create a new visual identity for West Cypress Hills, highlighting the slightly more upscale market they were targeting with their remarkable hill country lots and homes.

As the company founders were already familiar with the WordPress CMS (one of our favorites as well), we created a fully custom theme with an emphasis on the ability to update nearly every element of the website through the administrative dashboard. This includes a pair of custom jQuery header image rotators (featuring one with call-outs for viewing detail images of select home interiors), a custom sidebar jQuery floor plan rotator, and three different sidebar configurations that can be easily enabled for each page of the site.

Website Design: Cedar Door Original Mexican Martini Mix

When one of our long-established clients decided to create a new website to market their Original Mexican Martini Mix, of course we were excited (anyone who has enjoyed one of these delicious cocktails knows why!) While the Cedar Door has traditionally had a page of their website dedicated to their Mexican Martini Mix, the goal here was to create an online space purely devoted to this particular product.

One main objective of this project was to increase the Cedar Door’s organic search presence in Mexican Martini-related queries; now both websites take up quite a bit of valuable real estate space on search results pages for numerous high traffic keywords. Visually, the website incorporates the look and feel of the product label and creates a cohesive relationship between the physical product and the digital presentation, and everything is programmed with tight, clean XHTML/CSS code. Custom WordPress Theme: Robyn Ludwick

Any chance we get to work with local musicians and artists reminds us of why we love doing what we do! Working with talented Austin (or Wimberley, depending on who’s askin’) singer/songwriter Robyn Ludwick was no exception.

Robyn asked us to use Jackson Browne’s 1974 album, Late for the Sky, as the inspiration for her new release’s cover art, so we worked with painter Tom Betts to create the visual theme for Out of These Blues, and carried the concept over to her custom WordPress theme design. Special features of this project include an events calendar to allow her to quickly and easily add tour dates, a Facebook like box and Twitter feed, as well as a featured news item area in the header section of each page.
